A beautifully designed app with expert content provided by a world renowned sommelier.  Wine & Dine allows users to read wine descriptions, discover food pairings, add tasting notes and create a list of favorites.  Users can also edit any information that is already contained within the app.

Expert Content by a Wine Expert

Wine & Dine is built upon the expertise of certified Sommelier, Marian Jansen op de Haar.  Marian first developed an expertise in both cheeses and wines in gourmet shops and as her knowledge of fine wines evolved, Jansen op de Haar worked for several wine distributors and subsequently as a sommelier for two renowned restaurants in Phoenix, Arizona.   She later served as a manager for Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse in Scottsdale and as Wine Director for Fleming’s for the last 10 years.

At Fleming’s Marian was responsible for the management of the award-winning wine list and overall wine program.  Setting Fleming’s apart from other fine dining establishments, Jansen op de Haar developed a wine-by-the-glass program, known as the Fleming’s 100, that is renowned for its depth and innovation.  Under her direction, Fleming’s is consistently recognized by Wine Spectator magazine’s annual Awards of Excellence and Wine Enthusiast’s Awards of Distinction. She is a frequently invited guest as the wine expert on television and radio shows.  She has been a speaker numerous times at both trade and public events.  Marian has been a judge for the LA County Fair Wine Competition as well as for the PBS television show, The Wine Makers and she has written many articles for publications throughout the country.

When you walk into CarmelCafe, you’ll not only be greeted with a fresh, healthy Mediterranean flare, but with an iPad as well.  CarmelCafe chose StoneRaven to create a unique iPad app for their new restaurant.  Based on the popular iPairings mobile application, Pairings for CarmelCafe was customized to match their menu and wine list.  A purely unique iPad menu experience was created that matched Carmel’s colorful style.  Their menu and wine list were expertly paired to take the guesswork out of ordering the perfect pairing.

Being presented on iPads, CarmelCafe’s menu is now truly interactive. You can read detailed menu descriptions and see photos of each dish before ordering. At the same time you’ll see wine suggestions and a featured pairing for each dish. Just touch the wine name and up pops full wine notes and label information. It’s incredibly simple. Of course, if you already have your heart set on a particular wine, the iPad menu will also show you what food options you might want to try. It works both ways to make ordering food and wine more fun and adventurous.

#2. iPairings

Once you have used AllRecipes to determine the menu, iPairings help you choose the perfect wine to go with your meal. Simply type in the food or cheese you would like to complete with wine, and application spit out a list of red and white, and descriptions of drinks.  We incorporate a simple roast chicken and found that pairs well with both red and white burgundy pinot gris; cabernet sauvignon seems to go well with steak and kidney pie.

iPairings includes more than 130 types of wine, from Aglianico to Zinfandel,
and more than 1,400 couples wine and cheese.
